Privacy Policy

Hey Fido respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do (and don't do) with it. We do not sell your personal information — full stop. If you have questions, email support@heyfido.app.

Information we collect

Account information you provide: name, email address, password (stored as a one-way hash we cannot reverse), and an optional profile picture for your dog.

Dog profile details you choose to add: name, breed, birthdate, weight, known conditions, medications, and any notes. This is used only to tailor observations for your dog.

Photos and videos you upload: images and short videos you submit for observation or health tracking. For videos we sample a handful of still frames and persist the original for your own replay. We do not share these with anyone outside the service providers that power observation (see below).

Usage data: which features you use, timestamps, device type, browser type, and coarse technical diagnostics. We use this to keep the app running and prioritize improvements.

Location (optional): when you use the walk planner, we request your current latitude and longitude so we can fetch local weather, wildlife, and safety information. We store this alongside the walk session so you can look it up later. We do not track location in the background.

Billing information: managed entirely by Stripe. We never see your full card number. We store a Stripe customer ID so we can read your current plan.

How we use information

To operate the service: render your dashboard, run AI observations, generate the audio/video novelty outputs, plan walks, track health records, and deliver case summaries you choose to share.

To bill you: Stripe processes payments under its own privacy policy. We use your Stripe customer ID only to check plan status and issue cancellations you request.

To reach you about the service: occasional product emails (account, billing, safety-critical updates). You can unsubscribe from non-essential emails anytime.

To improve safety: we may review aggregate, de-identified usage patterns to catch bugs or misclassifications — never to read any individual user's content for fun.

What we do NOT do

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not rent or trade your photos, videos, or dog data to advertisers, data brokers, or third parties.

We do not train third-party AI models on your uploads without your explicit, separate consent.

We do not read your content for marketing segmentation.

Third-party service providers

We rely on a small set of trusted providers to run the service. Each processes only what they need, and each is bound by its own privacy commitments:

• Supabase — secure database, authentication, and media storage.

• Anthropic (Claude) — multimodal AI observation. Your photos and context are sent to Anthropic for a single inference and are not used to train Anthropic's models per their API terms.

• Wavespeed — generates the audio and video outputs when you use the "Hear Fido say it" or cinematic features.

• Google Places — when you search for nearby vets, trainers, or groomers.

• Stripe — payment processing for paid tiers.

• Resend — outbound email for case-sharing and account notifications.

• National Weather Service and iNaturalist — public walk-safety data sources, queried by lat/long.

Data retention

Account data: kept while your account is active.

Observations, dog profiles, walk sessions, health records: kept while your account is active and for up to 30 days after account deletion, then permanently deleted.

Generated audio/video clips: kept in private storage bound to your account; you can delete them at any time.

Shared case links: expire automatically after 30 days.

Billing records: retained as required by law (typically 7 years for tax purposes).

Your rights

You can request a copy of your data, correct inaccuracies, or delete your account and associated content at any time. Email support@heyfido.app and we'll act within 30 days.

If you're in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR / UK GDPR / CCPA including the right to data portability and to object to certain processing. We honor these rights regardless of where you live.

Security

We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest (Supabase-managed). Access to production systems is restricted to the people who need it, and we don't permit third parties to download user content in bulk.

No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach affecting your data, we will notify you without undue delay as required by law.

Children

Hey Fido is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, email support@heyfido.app and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be communicated in-app and via email for account holders. The "effective date" at the top reflects the current version.
